Natural deodorants don’t contain aluminium, triclosan, propylene glycol, parabens or any other chemicals that might be found in conventional deodorants and antiperspirants. Aluminium actually stops you from sweating however many people believe that its good to sweat because sweating is your bodies natural way of releasing toxins, salt and regulating body temperature. So switching to a natural deodorant will help your body to do what its supposed to rather than blocking it. A natural deodorant will absorb the sweat and add emit a lovely fragrance using natural aromas or essential oils with anti bacterial properties to prevent odour.
What Is A Detox Period?
Many people will find switching to a natural deodorant very easy and wont notice any differences. For others however there could be a detox period where you start releasing excess bacteria and toxins which have built up over the years, causing you to feel sweatier and slightly more smelly than usual.
How Long Is The Detox Period?
This varies for everyone, you can expect a 2 to 4 week transition period when switching from antiperspirant to a natural deodorant.
Will I Be Smelly?
Well you could be at first, I definitely was, but it only lasted a week for me. When you switch to a natural deodorant you are removing the ‘block’ and will start releasing toxins, waste, bacteria and some aluminium which has built up. Remember, it’s not that your natural deodorant isn’t working, it's just that it is having to work overtime.
Choose the right clothes
Wearing loose clothing in natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen will help whilst you adjust. Synthetic or restrictive clothing can trap moisture and make you feel more uncomfortable.
