Juicing For Immunity

Keeping our immune system strong has never been more important.

Juicing can be an easier way to consume more fruits & vegetables which can help empower the body with energy, aid the body’s cleansing process, and naturally improve the function of the immune system.

Below are some ingredients that we recommend you add to your juices to help boost your immune system.

Citrus

Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges are well-known for their high level of vitamin C and therapeutic properties, which can help to boost your immunity and protect you from pathogens that may cause illness. Citrus can also play the role of a blood purifier.

Adding citrus fruits such as lemons to your spring water can also give you a boost of vitamin C. One of the major health benefits of drinking lemon water is that it is a strong body detoxifier. Lemon water flushes out toxins and is extremely
beneficial for the body in a number of ways.

Parsley

Adding parsley to your juice can be an extra immune booster.

Research shows that apigenin which is an antioxidant in parsley helps regulate immune function by reducing inflammation and preventing cellular damage.

Try adding parsley combined with apple, cucumber and ginger.

Ginger

Ginger is one of those foods that are great to add to juices due to it's immune boosting benefits. Ginger has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects which can help boost your immune system. Ginger is also antibacterial and antiviral, and has been shown in studies to stimulate the immune system to kill viruses, including respiratory viruses.

Carrots

Vitamin A, which is also critical to a healthy immune system, is present in carrots in the form of the antioxidant beta carotene. Carrots also contain vitamin B6, which plays an important role in immune cell proliferation and antibody production.

Spinach and Kale

Greens such as kale and spinach are immune-boosting foods that contain high levels of vitamin C. These super greens are also full of antioxidants which help fight off infections and can regenerate other antioxidants in the body, including vitamin E.

Below are some other ways you can help naturally boost your immune system.

Vitamin C Supplements

Vitamin C has been studied extensively and may help decrease the duration and intensity of the common cold. Drinking juices and eating foods high in vitamin C is a great start, however taking a Vitamin C supplement can also be helpful too.

I personally love the Eden Healthfoods Wild C Natural Vitamin C Powder which is a brilliant source of natural vitamin C made with 100% certified organic ingredients like wild berries and greens.

Sleep

Sleep is an important period of bodily rest. During sleep, blood is pumped via the heart and then moved around the body to repair tissues and organs. Studies indicate that sleep plays a crucial role in the strength of the immune system, and that people who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to get sick after being exposed to a virus, such as a common cold virus.

The Goodnight Co provide stylish ceramic diffusers and pure essential oils like Lavender to help you perfect your bedtime ritual to encourage a restful nights sleep.

Infrared Sauna

Evidence shows that saunas can decrease inflammation, boost the immune system, and reduce certain signs of physical stress. If our lymphatic fluid is moving strong and fast then it has easy access throughout the body to eliminate toxins and pathogens, if your lymph is slow moving and backed up, then you may have immunity problems and frequent colds and flus. Sweating in a sauna can assist the lymphatic system, thus supporting the immune system.
